Ban'ei Card Rules

Overview A 3–5 player racing card game inspired by Ban'ei horse racing. Use cards to gain pulling power and race your piece to the Goal.

Deck Haul cards (1/2/3/1A/2A/1S/2S) × 5 each, Tactic cards (Draw/Discard/Pull) × 5 each. 50 cards total.

Turn

  1. Draw 1 card from the deck
  2. Play 1 Haul card (optionally combined with a Tactic card), or Pass
  3. Move your piece, discard played cards

Combining Tactic Cards

  • Red-bordered A cards (1A/2A): Any rank. Weak effect.
  • Blue-bordered S cards (1S/2S): 2nd place or lower only. Strong effect.

Board 12 spaces including Start. Spaces 3 and 7 are Hills requiring 3 and 7 pulling power to enter. Insufficient power carries over to the next turn. Excess power is lost upon entering Space 6.

Challenge At the end of your turn on Space 6 with 4+ carry power, you may declare a Challenge. Reveal the top card and add its pulling power; reach 7+ to advance to Space 7. Fall short and lose 2 carry power.

Pass Bonus Passing on Spaces 4–6 grants 1 free draw.

Victory Finish in the order pieces reach the Goal. Overshooting is allowed.
